T61, Intel X3100, Vista, Advanced mini dock

There have been some other posts on this topic, but there was some confusion on what resolution would work, if DVI worked properly with the X3100, etc. This has been my experience...

I recently purchased an advanced mini dock for my T61 running Vista Ultimate with the Intel X3100 integrated graphics. The DVI port is connected to a Samsung 226CW LCD using the native resolution of 1680x1020.

I had some strange behavior initially where after running on the dock using the Samsung monitor and then undocking, there would be no display on the laptop's screen. Had to reboot to clear.

I installed the latest BIOS upgrade and am now also using the Easy Eject software from Lenovo to gracefully eject the laptop.

Everything is good now. No BSODs, the display switches over to the laptop's screen at the proper resolution: 1440x900. The BIOS upgrade specifically had fixes for this.

I have also ran with the desktop extended to both the external LCD and the laptop's screen without problem.

By the way, the Samsung 226CW is sweet!!!

Since when can a TN monitor be sweet?.. have you never seen a good S-PVA or S-IPS?

I knew it, but what kind of T61/p panel Lenovo use
in WXGA/WXGA+/WSXGA+/WUXGA ?

MVA/PVA, (Shouldn't IPS), or TN?
