T60 recovery media password prompt?

First off, I want to thank all the great people on here for the amazing info on this fantastic web forum.
Second, I'm a newb ,so pardon me if I stumble.
Now then, I tried to reboot with the recovery media cd's I had made when I got my laptop. I put in the first disc and after a couple of minutes a prompt for a password shows up on recovery and rescue.
I never set a password for that and didn't understand what was going on. I pressed enter hoping it would be blank, but no luck. I dreaded to think that these recovery disks I made were useless without a password that I had no knowledge of.
Luckily I fixed a bug that avoided me using the recovery cd's.
My question is , if I go into client security solutions and click on advanced tab there is a "manage security policies" tab
I click on that and there is "policy manager" that pops up.
Third line in user action states logon to rescue and recovery
Beside the policy it states "protect with password or passphrase"
The box was checked, now if I uncheck this will it avoid the password prompt next time I need to use the recovery media cd's??
Any professional help or insight appreciated!
Best regards,
Mario,
