Windows XP Driver Question (T61P) - SOLVED

#1 Post by Hackez » Mon Oct 08, 2007 3:07 pm

I am familiar with how to create a custom Windows XP disc so I can install Windows XP. But the trouble I am having is finding the correct drivers. It seems Lenovo thinks its a good idea to include 64 drivers to sift through rather than just making a page with the necessary drivers and then a utilities section.

Please keep in mind the purpose of this particular Windows XP installation is performance. I want maximum functionality of my ThinkPad without any extra applications etc...

*My custom configuration does not contain a Bluetooth Module, Fingerprint Reader or Smart Card Reader.

Here is what I have so far:

Chipset Drivers
Intel Matrix Storage Manager Drivers
Audio Drivers
Card Reader Drivers
Ethernet Drivers
Hotkey Drivers
Modem Drivers
Power Manager Drivers
TPM Driver (I do need this correct? This is my first business notebook so I have never used TPM, though I have read up on what it does.)
UltraNav Driver
UltraNav Utility (I do need this correct, for fine tuning?)
Video Drivers
Wireless Drivers

What I can't figure out is do I need to install this?:

ThinkPad SD Storage and Standard Host Controller Bus Driver

One would make the assumption that the Ricoh Card Reader Driver would cover everything, but I just want to be sure.

I'd also appreciate it if you could let me know if I'm missing any necessary drivers.

Thanks,

Jeremy Mullen

P.S. On an unrelated note, I have heard some horror stories with the T61P LCD Screen, anyone else experienced these issues.

Hi,

You don't need ThinkPad SD Storage and Standard Host Controller Bus Driver

Your driver list is correct. You can remove UltraNav Utility, not usefull (only for Fn + F8).

I also made a custom Windows XP SP2 CD with all the driver and with native SATA AHCI support. Fully automated install with unattened.txt. :)
