Bulk Data Encryption: 0A53329 vs. 0A53399

#1 Post by wswartzendruber » Tue Oct 09, 2007 11:52 am

I'm trying to buy a 250 GB HDD from Newegg.com, and I found this one:

HITACHI Travelstar 5K250 HTS542525K9SA00 (0A53329)

Newegg.com says it supports Bulk Data Encryption, but Hitachi's BDE Howto says it's supported on the 0A53399, but it doesn't mention the 0A53329 found on Newegg.com.

Any advice?

that's not a BDE drive.   unfortunately newegg lists this as a feature on all of their 7K200 drives and it's incorrect.

this thread has more info and the correct part numbers.
