Problem after downgrade from Vista to XP (not the usual)

Hi everybody.
This is my first post here, and I really don't know, if I chose the right forum for my post. I guess it's T61 related, since my computer is a T61

I recently downgraded to XP from Vista, and that went very well. I only have one problem, which is really annoying though.

When i adjust the backlight of the screen, by using Fn+Home- and End, windows automaticly turns up the light, 1 sec after i adjusted it myself. I've tried reinstalling the batterimanager af drivers, but it really doesn't help at all. It's a strange problem, cause the drivers seems to be installed fine and are compitable with windows (integrated in windows powersettings, etc.)

Does anyone have a solution to my problem? I would be gratefull, this problem is a batterykiller, and a big deal, since i'm using my computer in school everyday.

The good news is that is not normal. The bad news is it sounds like a registry problem to me, and they can be hard to fix.

How did you actually install XP? Did you use a set of Lenovo recovery CDs? Did you attempt to upgrade from Vista to XP? Did you perhaps install the wrong driver first, and reinstalled another one?

My guess is you could try removing the battery (just so it doesn't get hurt) uninstall the power manager, and the battery driver, run a good registry cleaner (like tuneup 2007) power cycle your T61 and again run the registry cleaner. If it finds more errors fix them and reboot do this until all the errors are fix, or you are sure they can not be fixed. Then reinstall the Power driver and the power manager, reboot again and test now.

I formatted the harddrive, and installed XP from a original disc. Installed drivers, etc. (followed the downgrade guide in here). Everything seemed fine, but then i discovered the problem. Odd that it's something unusual, cause I did it all by the book

I tried reinstalling the power- and batterdrivers numerious of times, but it doesn't help at all. It's really odd. When i was watching a movie yesterday, with the power plugged in, it suddently turned down the lights (and yes, also when i tried to adjust it manually, which it won't allow me, for more than 1 second.)

There is an option in Thinkvatage Power Manager that does that which won't be shown for default power plans, it can be related to what you're experiencing.

You will have to create a new power scheme to get it displayed:
