What is the function of four holes in LCD bezel?

#1 Post by merlin01 » Wed Oct 10, 2007 2:31 pm

I just wonder if anyone notice the four holes in T61's screen bezel.

Does anyone know what their function is for?

That's a really bad angle. What four screws? The ones that mate the front cover to the rear cover (through the frame)?

screw the bezel and the hinge to the LCD cover.

I think what's being asked, although the picture is a little fuzzy, is that there appears to be two "slots" in the bezel next to the face of the LCD. That's the reason for the angle; apparently you can't see them unless you are looking up/down at the top/bottom edges of the LCD bezel (not the face). I don't have a T61 here at work to look at, so this is purely a guess.

Yes. You are right. They are slim rectangle "slots" along with the surface of LCD panel.

They are for privacy filters, available from Lenovo and other vendors. At least that is where mine fits in.

My guess was these slats on the 6X series systems is for a privacy screen/filter but has anyone purchased one that fits into these slots?

The standard 3M models do not and I couldn't find a Lenovo branded filter.

well not ontopic, but OUCH, that poor T61. He's holding it by it's LCD with the base not being braced by anything.

I did the very same thing with my T61p to show my niece what she should NEVER do with her MacBook. I picked it up at the screen top with the laptop about 55% open. I later thought it was stupid to try, but I also think that I made my point.

I don't want her to think that her laptop isn't a good one. I want her to know that the kind of hell that she's seen me do with my TPs is NOT something she can do with her prissy little white Apple laptop.

Just what I was thinking too, I carry mines by the scren a lot, but not holding it like that.

I simply thought they were vents for heat disipation (I know the the lcd doesn't produce a lot of heat but still some), the privacy filters thing sounds intriguing but I would have thought they would market this if it was for that purpose.
