Could someone tell me how to turn off my display screen, without putting the TP to sleep, or off.

I was looking at a previous post and noticed that the picture of a TP by a happy new owner showed the display off with the thinklight on. I can't find that settings combination. With Fn+F3 the display will go off, but as soon as you touch the Fn+PgUp again the display comes back on......No big deal, just wondering how it was done.
