I currently own a T42P (2373-Q1U), and am thinking about upgrading to a T60P. Is this worth doing? The UXGA screen is what I like most, and T60P's still pop up on ebay with that screen. Is the quality of the IBM T42P any different from the Lenovo T60P?

If the screen is the only reason, and there are targets in sight, go fo it. However, it will be a good idea if there were any more reasons for you to upgrade.

Without any doubt! I upgraded from a T42 to a T60, and the change is worthy, Coreduo makes performace indicators about a 50% better. Built quality has improved and of course if the screen is still a flexview one go for it. Screen apart why not think of a T61 instead?

Yes, it worth (even twice) ! I switch from T41p to T60p and I love my T60p. Both of mine are 14" SXGA+ but if you love 15" UXGA, go for T60p because stocks are not never-ending.

This is really a question that only you can answer, there is no doubt that the T60p is a better system than the T43p and there is a performance leap but if the T43p meets your needs and is fast enough then there would be little point, if its not then definitely go for the T60p as it is a good system.

I have a T42 (not P) 15.4 with XP Pro and recently got a loaded T61p with Vista Ultimate 15" W.

The screen on the T42 is brighter, the T42 boots, hibernates and shuts down faster (both have 2 GB RAM) in spite of a slower HD.
