Hi guys , sinds a couple of days i'm the owner of a T60 14"...
I'm happy with , there's only one thing botering me and thats the startup time, almost 90 seconds.

I tried to make a slipstreamed xp,but when I got to the streaming of service pack 2 it gave an error "Integrated updates are already in your package..."something like that.
I can't make a fresh install then??without buying a new copy of XP?

Yesterday I installed another copy of XP(not legal) but then he goes very slowly into sleep ....
So I got the T60 back to factory XP and sleep is ok , but startup time

Maybe someone has some advice on removing some programs?
Or another advice...

I agree, the first thing that should be done upon receiving a new computer (any brand, really) is to install a fresh copy of the operating system.

I've never attempted a slipstream installation of XP myself, although I do plan on trying this in a few days when I receive my new T61p (drool).

I wouldn't be surprised if part of your problem with attempting the fresh install is from using illegal XP installation media. Pirated software is notorious for missing things, installing evil programs, and so forth.

If you can't get your hands on a legal copy, I'd work on uninstalling any unnecessary software running on startup. You can see what is starting up by doing start > run > msconfig

Disable the things you don't need on startup, but be cautious. It's better to disable a few things at a time in case you run into a problem.

Stany, If you haven't aleady done this, uninstall the security software(Client Security Solution, CSS) and disable the security chip in the bios. Boot times should improve significantly.

I disabled CSS and it runs 30secs faster on startup unbelievable
this is acceptable now i have 60sec start up time

Stany, if you don't already have one I would consider upgrading to a 7200rpm harddrive. Bootup times will improve and all around performance will noticably improve.

no I don't have a 7200rpm,maybe in the future.....

7200rpm is something for Christmas I think
But isn't this a big difference for the battery???
Can someone tell me this?

PS:man I really like the trackpoint , I like it more than a touchpad
