How do you get 64-bit Vista with a T61? When I ordered mine there was no option for picking it to be installed...I'm just curious as to whether Lenovo offers a 64-bit DVD that can be ordered or whether MS offers anything (although I don't think they do for OEM builds). Thanks

If you already have the machine:
You could go to the Best Buy website and order the "Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade DVD", make sure you get the version of windows you have, but get the 64 bit version. For example if you have vista business 32 bit, buy the vista business 64 bit anytime upgrade dvd.

Then download the microsoft activation backup and restore tool. I don't remember where it is, you can google it. It allows you to backup your windows activation onto a thumb drive.

Then you just install the vista 64 bit, tell it you want to activate windows later, and once it is installed, use the activation restore tool you downloaded, along with your activation you saved on the thumb drive, and it will activate windows for you.

Or if you didn't order the machine yet:
I actually ordered my T61 with Vista Business 64 bit already, it was an option because I ordered through educational WCSA/NASPO pricing, the "higher education" option on their website. I got a discount, and there were more options available to choose from for the OS. You might try that, if you can through your school if you are a student, or if not, see if you can find the SPP Pricing code somewhere on the forums, I think if you buy through SPP pricing you can get the OS options.
