Lenovo refused to repair machine under warranty :(

My sweet T60, model 2613-hcu still has warranty until the end of this month on the 29th of October, 2007. The problem with it is that 1/3 of the screen is covered with bright spots and I cannot use it at all without some difficulty and eye-strains. I decided to send it in for repair on the 4th of October. Lenovo sent me a box, I packed it all up and shipped it to them. One week and a half later, they sent me a letter saying that the repair is not covered in their warranty and refused to repair it, which means that the machine is still in their repair facility but they just refuse to repair it until I pay up. Needless to say, I filed a complain to BBB. I just hope that I can get the repair, because it's not fair for me to pay for the repair of a machine that is still under warranty. :cry:

If you mean defective pixels, I know they are annoying but there are guidelines as to what consitutes a faulty display (due to defective pixels being expected of the technology), It can be up to 11 depending on the resolution so i'm not sure what your definition of covered it :

Unless a device manager states otherwise, most will have a similar pixel policy.

I think by bright spots he means "pressure marks" that ARE NOT covered under warranty....

@AvalonXIII

IBM wouldn't repair a machine if something is not under the defined policies and guidelines provided by lenovo or if a case of misuse is determined. By bright spots I think you meant "dead/defective pixels", snife has covered it all.

So do you mean that they would repair it if I said "dead/defective pixels" and not "bright spots"? If that is the case then it is so lame because either way I cannot use the screen as it is now, and I can vow that I have not abused the machine in anyway. I love my thinkpads and do not put them under stress besides normal uses everyday (web-surfing, programming, etc...)

Oh yeah, sorry snife, I forgot to mention, I have those bright spots up to 1/3 of the screen. So yeah, literally 1/3 of the screen is covered with bright spots and I cannot even see the screen clearly, which certainly exceeds the maximum number of 11 in my opinion. They are certainly defective pixels too because they can't display color correctly anymore

What warranty are you talking about? The standard warranty or the accidental damage one? I have a similar issue. Not bad pixels but damage to the display, pressure spots is a fitting word. I have the accidental damage warranty and was wondering if this is something they would cover or not.
