You need to either change the hard drive into "compatibility mode" in the BIOS, or make a slipstream install CD that has the AHCI driver integrated.

If you have a usb floppy drive the AHCI driver can be installed during the OS installation.

Good point. I should have mentioned that, but even USB floppies are becoming rare. Thanks, steveg47.

Thanks guys much appricated!

guess what is wired about the 646067U, if you go to the american IBM site it says i have a 128mb fx570 video card but the canadian site says its 256 mb which is true

also the canadian model comes stock with bluetooth which is great and the N wireless router - which now i have to figure out how to unlock i suppose? but im pretty sure its enabled because when i go to the value settings of 802.11n it automatically comes up as enabled

so ill find out soon enough tho

thanks for the help

6460-67U is not a Canadian model, it's a TopSeller, all the specifications offered for it all around the world would be same.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
