SATA2/300 is not supported, only SATA/150 and SATA/300. afaik there are no SATA2 mobile drives currently in production.
due to current ATA bus speeds, you won't notice any difference in throughput between SATA/150 and SATA/300 drives. this should change with the intel nehalem architecture.

Perhaps you can show me otherwise, but
according to this (which in turn refers
to this), "SATA II" means (and is a misnomer for) "SATA/300." There are no separate "SATA/300" and "SATA2/300" standards. SATA/300 was originally slated to be called "SATA II" but the SATA committee decided against use of that name. The committee specifically tasked with the 300MB/s version of SATA called themselves the "SATA II" committee, but have since dropped that name in favor of the more universal "SATA-IO."
By SATA2, most people mean SATA/300, so by that definition (and I'm not aware of any other definition that
could be used), ThinkPad T6x models are capable of "SATA2" rates.

in that case, saying "SATA2" is completely incorrect and is why i was confused since it's not an approved standard or name for the standard. regardless, SATA/150 and SATA/300 are supported.
