T61 Windows XP SP2 32 bit Firewire Driver
Hi there,
First- I apologize if this has been posted before but I did do due diligence for the last 30 minutes searching here- great forum BTW.
I have a new T61 that was shipped with Vista Ultimate- I created the recovery DVD and did a complete reinstall with an OEM (non IBM) Windows XP SP2 disk. i have done this previously on the current T42p. A few items happened
1. Had to disable SATA in BIOS so XP could see the disk
2. System Update program fails on install for some reason- I do not have that detail with me at the moment (traveling on a T42P currently)
3. So I went down the list and installed drivers one by one. Here is where my questions are
Questions:
1. I had to install the Intel 4925 wireless driver right from Intel since Lenovo dis not appear to support an XP driver- looks OK
2.I can not find the driver for the Firewire host adapter anywhere. I need help here.
3. If I get a driver- it appears there are 2 devices still wihtout drivers. Does anyone have a complete list? i did walk the driver list Lenovo has posted.
4. Can I go back to the BIOS and set the hard drive back to SATA? XP should have the drivers.
5. Id there a complete package for the Thinkpad key etc? I may have missed it but looked for a while.
Appreciate you time in advance.

Still having issues
O some progress
1. I updated the wireless driver
2. The IEEE is OK
3. SATA looks ok (I think)
4. System update says that "The wizard was interrupted before System Update could be completely installed...." I just let it run so what is going on? I can nto find the program to delete it and start fresh
5. I still have the PCi device and 2 unknown devices. the link for the drivers is not really my system- i tried Audio driver but it was the wrong HW.
I have a 64577WU

Re: Major Issue
that means AHCI drivers weren't properly installed. follow ryengineer's instructions for installation.delaneybob wrote:OK, I lost the main partition for my files (~100GB) Windows does not see it. i thne tries AHCI in the BIOS and got a BSOD.
to add to that, run "install.cmd" once in the above directory.ryengineer wrote:4. Last questions before a rebuild
Thanks. great link
Last 2 questions:
1. Lenovo states to turnoff dual core prior to install->Really? i prefer the Lenovo method unless there is a recommendation otherwise
2. If I can get a floppy connector, and install the SATA drivers during XP install, will Windows really detect it? i have my doubts
Thanks again

Issue overcome
Lenovo's instructions to copy the IMSM to diskette does not work. You must run the setup executable and point it to the floppy.
Then it works

Moving on
Can I address this later and install the driver after I install apps or will that mss the computer up?
Just trying to avoid my companies standard image load
i had TPM written down as a guess but didn't think that was it and hit the backspace key. grab the TPM drivers from the driver matrix page and you'll be good to go.
system update failed for me under server 2003 and i don't know if it had to do with BITS or not. i don't have a clean 2003 or XP install anymore to check the list of running services.

Re: ATM
Intel Amt Control can be enabed/disabled in the BIOS. If you enable it , you would need the following drivers:delaneybob wrote:snip......and the AMT?.
Management Engine Interface (Intel AMT 2.5) driver for Windows Vista, XP - ThinkPad T61, T61p, X61, X61s, X61 Tablet, Reserve Edition
One of the reasons why I never use clean install is the headache you're going through. Not that it's difficult but finding proper drivers and make them work properly is very time consuming, atleast to me; when I can get everything in out of the box condition in lenovo's oem factory preload.

Update on driver and AHCI
I removed the device- rebooted and PC says it's a "PCI Simple Communication Controller".
Also I changed to AHCI and got BSOD. I did, honest, follow the diskette based install procedure.
Do I need the floppy attached when I change to AHCI? The driver was installed when i installed XP off the floppy
