Resolution Changes When Docking/Undocking.. Very Annoying.

#1 Post by Raeldor » Mon Oct 29, 2007 12:48 am

Hi All,

I am getting a very annoying problem where the resolution changes when docking and un-docking my laptop and I have to keep resetting it to 1400x1050. I use the laptop screen only when docked, so it shouldn't need to change between resolutions at all. I have tried lots of different driver versions, to no avail.

Has anyone else seen this problem, or has a fix for it? I'm assuming it's a problem with the display driver?

Thanks
Rael

YEP! If you are talking about a T61 I have the same issue...no fix that I could find....

Try deleting your profile (there should be TWO one for docked and one for undocked) and re-create it (by docking)...MAKE SURE YOU BACK EVERYTHING UP...ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK... (XP ONLY) not sure how this works if you are running Vista...

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion... I gave this a shot, but still no joy. Sad thing is that it didn't do this before I updated the driver using the update utility, but now I can't roll back and don't know which driver version I had before.

Any other suggestions appreciated.

Thanks
Rael

A BIOS update has been released to fix this problem:
(Fix) Incorrect screen resolution may be configured when the system is re-docked on the docking station.

(Fix) Unexpected display mode(s) may be selected with docking station on Windows Vista.
BIOS update utility.

With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."

Hi,

I saw that in the BIOS readme too, but I already have a later BIOS version than that... unless they re-introduced the bug of course.

Thanks
Ray
