thinkpad security now makes me press cntrl, alt, delete

On my T60, When logging in I used to get a prompt for a fingerprint swipe, then it would go through the login procedure, now I get a security box that reads ...please wait, or press cntrl alt delete to log in with a password.

After pressing the buttons I get a fingerprint prompt and it will log me in.

Any ideas why this "...please wait" dialog box is popping in there now? It never used to come up.

Thanks

Did you just update your Fingerprint Software? I just posted about this issue on another thread a few weeks ago...

The solution to my problem (and possibly yours) is outlined on another software thread referenced in the aforementioned thread.

Glad to help. I have to say, that is a particularly annoying bug, since it is makes the whole fingerprint software completely redundant!

Well I solved the first problem and got another

I fixed the first sign is issue by going into the client security and under the advanced tab going to manage security settings and then turning off the security interface under log onto windows (tab on left). This gave me the diaglog box back under system setting/advanced/logon with the fingerprint software. This got rid of the ...wait or press ctrl alt del.

Now after logging in with a fingerprint I am getting another little rectangular pictoral fingerprint sign-in for (I assume the client security 7.0022, since the password manager appears in the taskbar immediately after doing this.) Any ideas about how to get rid of this second fingerprint request?

Thanks

You need to follow all three steps of milstein's posted solution...
milstein wrote:Some more detailed description about the symptom after those repetitive updates of fingerprint software which turned out to be a previous version:

1. At the beginning:
The window logon prompt is a narrow one with a finger-on-sensor cartoon, saying "Please wait... or press Ctrl-Alt-Del..."
It doesn't take my finger swipe automatically, and I have to press Ctrl-Alt-Del and then ENTER to signify I'm certain user before it prompt me to swipe my finger again with a much smaller size finger swipe prompt (like a small square in size)

2. When I have disabled the client security logon interface in CSS:
There is still a logon prompt for finger swipe, very similar to 1. But instead, the dialogue is saying "Please swipe your finger or press Ctrl-Alt-Del..."
It takes my finger swipe automatically, and it logs on. However, once I'm completely logged on, it prompts me to swipe my finger AGAIN with a small square dialogue box (to activate the CSS? password manager?)

3. When I have enabled the client security logon interface again in CSS:
There is a different and large size logon prompt (thicker and similar to the size of normal XP logon prompt) without any cartoon on it, just with text saying something like "Press Ctrl-Alt-Del or Swipe your finger..."
For this, it takes my finger swipe automatically to log on, and there is no further prompt for my finger swipe after I'm completely logged on.

Did you complete Step 3 by re-enabling the client security logon interface again in CSS? :?:

Nope, I missed this step.

I now fixed the problem as well.

Thanks for being patient and helpful.
