hardrive not seen
hardrive not seen
i have a t61p, bought a hard drive for backup, it is a Seagate momentus 60g, i formatted it, the laptop sees it, i can read and write to it, now when i replace my original hd with the seagate, i am downgrading to win xp pro, it says there is no hd installed , tried a few times now, does anybody have any advice on this.

You would need to switch HDD settings from SATA to Compatibility mode in the BIOS.

If you are installing a non-Lenovo retail or OEM XP image, you need to download the SATA disk driver from the T61 support page at Lenovo and put it on a USB memory drive stick. Then during the XP install hit the F6 key (I think) when prompted early-on for additional device drivers.dsmith wrote:does anybody have any advice on this.

Will an xp install see a USB memory drive stick from F6? Thought xp was limited to floppy.
Vista on the other hand...
