T61 + Trackpoint + Firefox = No Sideways Scrolling???

#1 Post by rxblitzrx » Tue Nov 06, 2007 9:46 am

Is there any way to get the trackpoint to scroll horizontally in Firefox? It works in Microsoft Word, and I love it! However, it's about as effective as a high sodium diet for people with hypokalemia on thiazide diuretics..... yeah, it's that bad.

Does anyone know how to get it to work?

Please download the latest version of UltraNav driver from Lenovo's site

If it still doesn't work, you might want to try this:

Go to C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP and locate TP4table.dat and TP4scrol.dat
Open them with Notepad and add the following lines to each file (Between "Pass 0 rules" and "Pass 1 rules")

; Mozilla Firefox Scroll Fix
*,*,FIREFOX.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9

Save them and exit

Hope it helps

That looked like a cool fix but it didn't work. :(

Can I try anything else?

Sorry buddy, I don't have any suggestions for now. (using IE7 maybe? if it counts..) The solution I gave you was actually to enable the trackpoint functionality in Firefox, since it didn't work with Firefox at all before the latest version of UltraNav driver.

I don't use Firefox but I believe in some browser such as Opera, you can check the option to get the optimal view (the website will be adjusted to fit in the browser) so you won't need to scroll horizontally.

I hope you can get the answer from somebody else in the forum. Good luck!

Here is one method. Not perfect, but maybe it works for you. Choose Neither on scrolling option in Ultranav Wizard.

EDIT: I just found the other thread I thought I had read on this issue. Maybe this would work. http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=40104

LOL, that actually worked... kinda. It turns the scrolling button into a omnidirectional scroll, but it doesn't have speed control. I guess it's better than nothing. Might take some getting used to.

Thanks!
