Changing wireless cards from intel to atheros..

I have a T60 and I switched the intel wireless card I had and changed it to atheros card. BUT when I rebooted it with the new card the computer didn't recognize it.. So I went to the Lenovo site and downloaded the atheros driver and ran it. BUT it still doesn't work... I rebooted the computer but still it doesn't recognize it. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?
