Hi, today I have a T60 (1400x1050 ATI x1300) but I’m not able to play any HD movies.

Is there any ThinkPads that’s capable of playing HD movies in 1080p (h264 x264 mkv)

/J

That's the exact same configuration of my machine, and I am capable of seeing HD, what video player are you using? I'm using KMPlayer, with a lot of options for rendering video, allowing me to optimize the performance of the video.

Do you have the Matroska splitter installed? You need it to play MKV.

http://www.cccp-project.net/ Will set you up with a minimal amount of fuss. Will let you decode and play just about anything. Its a compilation of codecs and players, etc.

If you want a simpler setup that is self contained as a single program but slightly less intuitive to ues try www.videolan.org

Both are good, check them out and see what you like best.

I have tried CCCP, KMplayer and VLC but I can’t get it to play HD smoothly.

With VLC there is no way to get it to play but with CCCP and Kmplayer it works better but there is dropt-frames and no way to get it to play smoothly.

Don't know what to say. Put your computer in 'maximum performance' mode via the power manager and give it another try?
I have a T60 1400x1050 and x1300 too. Haven't had issues playing HD stuff but I don't believe I only did 720P and 1080i. Check the CPU usage while it is playing back.
