questions about my new T61

ok, I just got my T61 with NVIDIA chip and a 6 cell battery.

I also have WinXP pro.

Question - how do I turn off the passoword protection 'feature' that is a part of thinkvantage?

Question no. 2 - is it recommended that I update all of my drivers, utilities, etc... as recommended by ThinkVantage? I started the update yesterday, then came back to my computer and noticed that there were some wireless card errors.

Question no. 3 - is there a free software support from Lenovo? I thought they allowed a certain period where one could call in, just not sure how long that period is.

Also, as a note, my T61 feels and looks VERY solid. Screen has no flexing whatsoever. I 've got the WXGA version (14 in). Not too impressed by speakers, but overall, a great notebook. Beats the R40 I had previously.

Congrats on the new laptop. I just upgraded from an R40 as well... not by choice unfortunately. The screen on my R40 has a bad connection somewhere and it shuts off randomly now. Hope you enjoy your new T61!

That's funny, I have a T61P 15.4" and I think the speakers are quite good for the size. I wonder if the speakers are different because it's the T61P or because it's the larger 15.4" size?

I think we may have a different ideas about what a 'good' speaker for laptop is.

I would prefer to have speakers similar to T23

Well I dunno, I don't know if the speakers are even the same in your laptop as in mine. I haven't owned many laptops, I just have noticed that my T61P speakers are louder and sound better than any of my friends' laptops, except 1 friend who has a 17" laptop.

Or else the location is infact different. Next to the screen Vs. beside the keyboard.
