Hey guys. A few days ago I noticed that during start up process my optical drive makes an unusual sound. Believe it or not it sounds more like a floppy drive. :D Also I am pretty sure the was no such a sound before. It works fine tho, reads cds and dvds (have not tried to burn anything yet). Could there be something wrong with it?

reseat= reposition, disconnect and reconnect, like the following videos:

Ultrabay removal movie - ThinkPad T60/p.

Ultrabay installation movie - ThinkPad T60/p.

Do one of the following:

1. Go to BIOS, Config > Power > CD-rom speed > Set it to "Silent".

2. Open Thinkvantage Power Manager, Global Power Settings > Advanced, set CD-ROM speed to "Silent".

If you change the above settings either at one place, they'll reflect to the other.

Try burning a media and running PC-Doctor test too, if the noise persists and continues bothering you then call IBM Support Center at 1-800-426-7378 (24/7)! and request a replacement as long as your machine is still under warranty.
