will brightness, viewing angles be identical on wide screen vs. non-wide?
I have the non-wide screen and am finding it a bit small (used to 4:3 screens).
If I exchange my T61 wide for non-wide, will the screen quality diminish?
Did any of you switch from wide screen to non-wide and are not regretting it?

Your details are confusing, in one portion of your post you're claiming to have a non widescreen panel and in another widescreen.

sorry, I meant to say that I'm used to T43 (4:3 screen) but have T61 WXGA (14 in) wide screen and am finding WXGA a bit smaller than 4:3 ratio screen.

I'm a bit confused too. Can you give some specifics?
T43
Resolution: __________
Screen Size: __________
T61
Resolution: 1280 x 800 WXGA
Screen Size: 14.1"
Just to get started, if the resolution on your new T61 is higher than the old T43, then things will look a bit smaller. I actually don't know much about this either, but I think in most cases, "things" are rendered 1:1 pixel ratio.
Example: an image that is 128 x 128 pixels will take up exactly that much of your 1280 x 800 pixel screen.
I personally like higher resolution screens 1440 x 900 (wide screen) or 1400 x 1050 (non-wide) and then I just magnify stuff if it's too small. Example: adjusting to 120 dpi.
The higher resolution comes in handy for watching movies and other things that look better with more "detail".

From personal observations, the quality of the 14" WXGA+ screens on the T61 is not that high at all. Even in comparsion to the 14" SXGA+ non-widescreen. The 1400x1050 resolution also offers more a larger total work area, and is more balanced for different tasks (the 1400x900 is too short and has too few vertical pixels).
