Hi,

I got a t61p on order arriving with vista ultimate. Has anyone managed to get the thinkpad XP and thinkpad Vista images to dual boot tho?

I would require both the vista and XP recover cd's of course, but i assume once i install the XP recover over the already installed vista its likely to wipe everything out?

I havnt run the recovery disks for a while on my t43p so i don't rememer, but can you select the partition they restore to? In that case i could create a second partition and run the XP restore disk to that, then fix the MBR - as shown in all the normal dual boot guide.

Any ideas?

Recovery disks wipe out everything.
Important: During the recovery process, all data on all partitions of the hard disk will be deleted, including any personal data and configuration settings. If possible, copy any important data or personal files that you want to keep onto removable media or a network drive before you start the recovery process.

that's anoying

It doesnt seem to use an image like some other manufacturers use (i.e. there's a ton of scripts that run too) so i guess the only option is to do a clean install..

hmm maybe i could recovery to XP, ghost it.. then recover to vista then ghost back the XP partition.

That would probably work as long as you can get the boot loader to play nice.
