Is it OK to buy an used hard driver?

#1 Post by Diehard » Sun Nov 11, 2007 12:34 pm

I'm planning to upgrade my T61 hard driver to Seagate Momentus ST910021AS 100 GB 7200 rpm. Seller has stated it has no error.Is it OK to buy an used one? What is the best way to check if it has any error?

BTW, it is OEM product. How can i check the warranty?

The item is :Seagate Momentus ST910021AS 100 GB 7200 rpm
SN: 3MHOEM**
Mode: ST910021AS
PN
FW: 3.04
Date: 07164 --> it means 16/4/2007?
I've visited Seagate, but was unable to check the warranty.

I guess it depends on the price and what you wanted to use it for. I wouldn't simply because the price of a new one has come down so much and they are probably the most likely to fail part in a PC.
