Did I not get the right drive for my T60p?

Have a T60p and bought a new drive for it (a HTS541680J9AT00) from our "preferred vendor", only it came bare-bones without the rubber rails, the "pull-tab" or the interface that covers the pins (pardon any lack of correct terminology). I'd like to be able to swap the drives back and forth, so I don't want to strip the current drive.

Can anyone tell me what I need? What's that stuff called? Does it come together? Separately? The vendor is just not getting it.

the part number you provided (HTS541680J9AT00) is for a 5400rpm 80GB PATA drive.   it will not work in your T60p's main drive slot.   you need a SATA drive like shown in your pictures.

once you source the correct hard drive, all you need is the caddy and rubber rails to be able to swap them back and forth.   personally i would recommend installing the new drive in an ultrabay slim HDD adapter and using F12 at boot to choose between them.   swapping main drives on a regular basis can be a pain and can cause unnecessary wear on the connectors.

Thanks! Is that the 40Y8725 ? Didn't realize I could select which drive to boot with. I just may have to go that way.

The 40Y8725 will work and is for S-ATA drives, the 41U3148 will also work and is for P-ATA drives.

yes, 40Y8725 is what you need.

if you plan to put an OS on the new drive then you can install it in the main drive bay, set everything up, and then either leave it in the main bay or move it to the ultrabay.   using F12 at boot is a hardware switch so it works without the complication of boot loaders.   plus, this method allows you to switch drives around if/when necessary and have a bootable system on each drive.
