T60 Bluetooth can't find Nokia N95 mobile phone. SOLVED!!!!!

Received a mobile phone Nokia N95 from my husband as a gift (happy me!).

Tried for 2 days to get a bluetooth connection between my T60 (XP SP2) and the Nokia N95, to no avail.
Have searched on this forum as well as other forums for a similar problem and a possible solution: no luck.

This is what I've done so far and here are my findings:

1. Under Control Panel, System, Hardware, Devices: just ONE Bluetooth device is present and activated: Thinkpad Bluetooth with enhanced Data Rate
2. Installed LATEST Nokia PC Suite software which installs the required bluetooth drivers as well (hopefully).
3. Installed latest software on Nokia N95 as well.
4. System infor of Nokia PC Suite reports next bluetooth stacks:
- WIDDCOMM Blue-tooth Stack
- Microsoft Blue-tooth stack.
5. On my T60, Nokia Connection Manager shows a window in which Bluetooth WIDCOMM and Bluetooth Microsoft are UNCHECKED.
As soon as I check one of them I get a message: Connectiontype can't be used. Check if all required hardware, software and drivers are available (code: Open Media).

T60 and N95 are 20 cm separated from each other. I've noticed that both units have active radio transmitters/receivers.

My T60 can't find the Nokia N95. The N95 isn't listed anywhere on my T60. The N95 can't find a bluetooth device (which shlould be my T60) as well.

In Windows Services, bluetooth has been set at started and automatic.

In Device Manager, I've tried to install WIDCOMM and Microsoft bluetooth, to no avail.
I've deinstalled, removed software and drivers, restarted the T60, installed all again, tried installing other blue-tooth drivers: no luck at all.

Hopefully someone can help me finding the solution for this stubborn and frustrating problem.

See the following post on how I got my bluetooth fully functional on my T42. I have a Nokia 6102i, and I am able to connect successfully using Nokia's phone suite.
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 869#276869

To make sure all goes well, unistall Nokia's phone suite, then follow what I posted above. Reboot, then reinstall Nokia's phone suite. Make sure bluetooth is turned on in your ThinkPad with Fn + F5. Next, turn bluetooth on on the phone and set it to discovery mode (which is only active 30-60 seconds, if I remember correctly). Once phone is in discovery mode, then use Nokia's phone suite to search for your phone.

GomJabbar, you've made my day!!
In your post of april 22, you've given the most fundamental advice:

"What did work is the following.
1. I made sure the bluetooth radio was off using Fn + F5."

Following this I've done next steps, getting a successfull installation of the bluetooth stacks and nokia PC Suite software and drivers on my T60 with XP SP2:
1. Switching off bluetooth by using Fn+F5
2. Removing any bluetooth device(s) in Device Manager
3. Removing ALL bluetooth and NOKIA related software AND drivers, using "add/remove" software
4. Removing software, registry left-overs with
- Nokia PC Suite Cleaner (for old versions, if applicable)
http://europe.nokia.com/A4144912
- CCleaner
5. Restarted T60, keeping Fn+F5 bluetooth radio switched off
6. Downloaded and installed LATEST Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software for XP (currently: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-61425), from your harddisk located at Drivers/Bluetooth
7. Rebooted T60
8. Switched on bluetooth using Fn+F5 keys, which was followed by an automatic install of all drivers and services!!
9. Switched off bluetooth using Fn+F5 keys
10 Rebooted T60
11. Installed LATEST Nokia PC Suite software
12. Rebooted T60
13. Switched on bluetooth with Fn/F5 keys
14. Configured PC Suite Software and ...........BINGO

GomJabbar, thanks so much for your posts!!

The difference with your config is: I did a full clean install of XP and presumably had the bluetooth Fn+F5 switched on when I installed the bluetooth stack.

It is a real joy that my Nokia N95 now can be easily connected to my T60 over bluetooth, enabling the exchange of data. The Nokia N95 in itself proved to me being an amazingly advanced miniature computer!

BTW, Have you upgraded your bluetooth firmware as well?
