In my BIOS, I can enable Intel Virtualization Technology, and when I did a while back, it came up with an error message, so I turned it back off. What exactly is Intel VT, and what are the benefits of it? Do you guys use it, and if so, for what? If not, why not? Inquiring minds want to know...:D

Thanks...

Intel® Virtualization Technology – Overview

it's mostly for users of VMWare.

Basically, what it does is, in the case where you're using a virtual machine (i.e., running Windows from a Linux machine, etc.), you can use one of the cores for each operating system. Very cool and very effective! I use it running Ubuntu 7.10/XP, and I don't notice ANY slowdown between the two!

Actually it has nothing to do with using one of the cores. Even some of their single core processors had virtualization. What it does from what I can gather, is allows the VMM (virtual machine monitor) to perform many standardized actions in hardware rather than software. Which results in a much more efficient virtualized environment.
