The T61/p has 3 USB ports. Two are located on the left and one on the right, all in vertical positions.

1. Given the limitations (if any) of having 3 USB ports, would you choose a Wireless RF or a Wireless Bluetooth mouse?

2. What are the advantages/disadvantages of both

Depends on the model. You'll find horizontal on some too, T61 14.1 W is a unique case.

I would use Bluetooth, The only advantage I know of for RF is being easier to set up (plug and go vs having to bluetooth pair).

I've heard people complain about the time it takes to pair. What is that all about?

I read a lot while I'm using my laptop, therefore there's a lot of dead time. Am I going to have to wait for it to "wake up and pair" often?

I've been using a couple of BT mice (one MS and one Logitec) with my recent BT equipped Thinkpads for a couple of years now and they both works quite transparently, with no issues at all.

Cheers,

I have used the following mice in order over the past few years. The two bluetooth mice below have significant wake up and noticeable movement lags compared with the two RF. The bluetooth mice also have interference with WiFi and cell phones here.

- Logitech MX700 RF
- Microsoft Bluetooth Wireless Intellimouse Explorer
- Logitech MX900 Bluetooth
- Logitech MX1000 RF
