Part # Question

I was recently browsing the parts catalog for the T61p and I came across this part number 42T0901 -- which is for a SIM unlocked WWAN card.

Is this a mistype or does such a part exist, and if so:

1. Is this a user installable component? I'm very handy with hardware, but not with laptops.

2. Where/How do I order it?

I checked the part and price, it's called "SIM WWAN" no mention of unlocked there, the part is quite expensive as well.

1. Yes.
2. Contact IBM in Kuwait.

In Europe all X60s with WWAN had Vodafone locks, as of the X61 none of them have a lock, I presume this also applies to other models. Therefore I would say; it does exist and you can install it yourself, (don't forget the arial).

Is there a separate part number for the antenna? I could not find it in the parts catalog at lenovo.

Okay, this is becoming a bit more complicated than I thought. My laptop already has the Verizon WWAN card which would mean that the antenna is installed.

There are two antennae, the UWB and the WiFi/WAN, and my laptop would have both.

I just want to swap the Verizon card, with the SIM unlocked card, so I don't think I need to add the antenna?

Correct, there aren't different antennae for different cards.
