Reusing downloaded patches

Hi All,

I was wondering if there was a way to reuse patches that have been downloaded by another laptop of the same model through the thinkvantage software?

I recently rebuilt my machine and since I pay for my bandwidth I was hoping I could use my wife's patch repository that she has accumalated via the thinkvantage update software.

I guess one method would be to just run all the patches outside of the TV software ...

Anyway thought there be a better way.

You'll find the packages downloaded by Thinkvantage System Update in the folder: C:\Program Files\Lenovo and the ones downloaded manually in C:\drivers\WIN . However it can be quite a daunting tasking in finding packages from the former's sublocation C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\session .

If your machines are connected in a network then next time try using Thinkvantage Update Retriever that downloads all packages to a network share repository folder.

Hmmm the network share repository would've been nice to know about when we had unlimited bandwidth. Oh well, thanks for the info.

So you made me curious about the network repository thing, where would I find that option, in the Think Vantage Update software? I tried looking in the help file, but couldn't find anything about it.

ThinkVantage Technologies Administrator Tools. (Middle of the page)

You'll require System Update 3.x Deployment Guide if you're unfamiliar with it's usage.
