T60 startup - LCD distorted

#1 Post by david_uk » Thu Nov 15, 2007 10:47 am

Seems to depend on how long the power button is pressed for, and is intermittent. Sometimes a longer press causes the condition, sometimes a shorter one.

Screen displays many coloured vertical lines, but XP Pro SP2 seems to be booting in the background - plenty of I/O.

Only remedy is press/hold power button till machine off, then try again. Usually boots into normal ThinkPad startup screen after several attempts.

Ideas? TIA.

I'd call for a warranty repair. The ThinkPad logo screen should never be corrupt.
