System Tray question
Hello all:
I have noticed as of late that when I re-boot my T60, the ultra Nav icon loads into my system tray. I went into the control panel and into the mouse/ultranav properties and made sure that the"show ultranav in tray is NOT checked" To remove it, I would check and than uncheck and it leaves the tray.
Anyhow, as soon as I shut down or restart my system, it returns to the tray and i DON'T want it there as I have more than enough junk there.
Any ideas on how to get rid of this problem once and for all?
Thanks to all who respond.
Kindest Regards, Steve

Ultra nav in system tray
I have gone into the auto start and removed it, only for it to re-load itself and appear again in my System tray.
This began about a week ago for no reason what so ever.
I've come to believe that updating drivers from Lenovo causing more problems than they fix. I've always been one to keep everthing up to date, but I'm learning that if your ThinkPad is working fine, keep what you have. More times than not, these updates correct one thing, only to cause several new problems.,
My 2 cents

I have been successful in keeping it out of the system tray by disabling it, however, this is only feasible if you are not using it.

Ultra nav in system tray
I sm using it, but it should still not have a mind of its own.
If unchecked, it should "STAY OUT" of the tray.
If there is an issue with the software or driver set, Lenovo should get on the stick and come out with a patch. I know I'm not the only person with this issue............

Re: Ultra nav in system tray
As I pointed out, multiple versions of the UltraNav driver have this problem. However, that is the only IBM driver that gives me issues and I keep my drivers well up-to-date. I understand your UltraNav issue, but your broad generalization is off-base. ... JDHTruthfinder wrote:<snip> More times than not, these updates correct one thing, only to cause several new problems.,

Ultranav
Off base, or on base, I've beening using ThinkPads for over 10 years and in MY personal view, I find that updates cause more issues than they fix.
Additionally, I am not talking about a critical / security updates.
Also, it is MY feeling that many of the new updates that are being manufactured are being made for both XP & Vista and this in itself MAY cause issues.
This is my opinion

Re: Ultranav
I have been using ThinkPads for longer than you and I find that the vast majority of driver updates cause no problems, and create no new issues. For the most part, the support site separates Vista and XP updates (although sometimes in fine print). Still, having applied multiple updates of all drivers over time on my T41, it still runs without a hitch. The system tray problem for UltraNav remains as we have both noted. ... UltraNav / System Tray
Last Post concerning this issue as there is no sense going round and round over it.
If and when anyone hears of a fix for the faulty UtltraNav Driver / System tray issue, please advise.
Should I come accross it before hand, I will post.
Thank you to all who have responded and who respond in the future
