Intel Core 2 Penryn

When the Intel Core 2 Penryn processor line comes out in 2008, will it be possible to replace the T7500 in my T61 with one?
T42 - 1.7 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 40 GB 5400 RPM HDD
T61 - 2.2 GHz, 3 GB RAM, 100 GB 7200 RPM HDD, nVidia Quadro NVS 140M, Intel Turbo Memory, Vista Ultimate x64

Replace? I think you gotta order a new Thinkpad.

Nobody really knows yet. some say yes, others say yes with bios update, other say no. I think yes with bios update. Voltage might be different but its pin compatible. We shall see.
Vista and NVIDIA is the SUCK?

NOT TRUE.

Penryn CPUs all use the same VRM spec (v 11.0) as current 65nm C2D CPUs. the ONLY thing that could hamper their drop-in compatibility would be lack of BIOS support.
