BTTray.exe error on fresh vista install.

#1 Post by t60newb » Mon Nov 19, 2007 6:31 am

Hi,

I have just installed Vista Home premium, and it all seems to be good so far ...except...

At startup I get an error..

---------------------------------------------------------------
BTTray.exe - Unable to locate component

This application has failed to start because BtBalloon.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix the problem.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have re-installed and no joy. I have used bluetooth and it all works, its just this error every time I start up.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Paul.

I've never seen this problem.

This is a long shot... When you installed the software, did you have the wireless switch set to the ON position? Perhaps the software didn't install correctly because it couldn't find the hardware during the install process.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

I had this problem too and I fixed it.

I installed Vista Ultimate x64 and it worked fine. Then I got this error that you got. I uninstalled through add/remove programs and then reinstalled all the bluetooth support and it fixed my problem.

Here are the notes I made to myself at the time:

11/13/07.
Beginning yesterday the following message started showing:
BTTray.exe Unable to Locate Component. this application failed to start because BtBalloon.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
It happens whether or not the bluetooth radio is on at boot up.
Reinstalling c:\Drivers\TPBTooth seems to have fixed error message.

Hi,

Thanks for taking hte time to reply. I tried your suggestion, but it seem that my file structure is different to yours...

C:\drivers\vista\FPIRPON or WLLANATH

Neither of these files contain TPBtooth, and a search for TPBTooth shows this file is not on my PC.

Any idias....Im out.

I don't know if any of the information in the following post will help since it is Bluetooth on a T42 running XP, but I'll put it out there anyway.
