Buy 2GB PC2-5300 memory on ebay?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0190323545
The price seems to be low (US $37.02). But I am little scared by the seller's feedback and the fact he doesn't show the actual picture of the memory.
Has anyone got experiences of buying memory for T60 from him, especially this 2GB PC2-5300 memory? Is this memory a genuine Samsung laptop memory? The image in the listing shows samsung chips, but the seller doesn't mention a word about the brand.
Any input. welcome!

That's likely a generic brand i.e. chips are from Samsung but manufactured by some other vendor. I don't ebay much but if you can find brands like (in priority sequence) Crucial, Kingston or even Corsair then buy them.

As a heavy ebay user myself, you should have nothing to worry about. He's a Powerseller for one, which requires the seller to abide by certain strict standards. He's got a 5-star rating for "Item as described".crazyfrog wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0190323545

I understand that for some people, the negative feedbacks stick out and are scary at first glance. But the bigger picture tells the real story. Almost 20,000 positive feedbacks. The fact that the seller is a Powerseller. The fact that the seller has been active on ebay for 4 1/2 years!!! Go get that stick dude.
Let's do it.
Edit: Gulp! You're running Vista 64-bit. How is it? Was it a pain the neck to get it running, as everyone seems to allege it is??? We definitely need to talk. LOL...

Thanks all for your feedback!
Yeah, I've been running Vista 64-bit Business version for over 5 months. I've got all necessary ThinkPad drivers/utilities for Vista 64-bit downloaded and installed from Lenovo from the beginning without a problem.
Install various softwares seems to be problem free as well. If I can find versions for Vista 32/64-bit, fine; if I can't, I simply install versions for XP 32-bit. These 32-bit programs will be installed in a separate directory called "Program Files (x86)", which does hold most of the softwares installed. The era of 64-bit is yet to come, but my T60 is ready.
So far, my T60 runs Vista 64-bit steadily and smoothly, only one BSOD due to suddenly dead echo indigo soundcard. All programs, 32-bit and 64-bit are working without major problem despite a few warning messages during installation from software authors. BTW, I don't play games.
The most important thing is Vista -64bit definitely needs 2GB memory at least. That is why I am looking for upgrading to 3GB. The only pity thing is I can't upgrade to 4GB.

DUUUUDE!!! EHEHE...Actually, I need FOUR of those chips, as I have decided to go the x64 route. I am currently in Germany, so maybe we can do an order of 5 (or 6, depending on how many you need) in order to save on the shipping. I forget, does the seller charge less shipping for EU countries? It would only make sense. Plus, we could combine shipping. When I have the chips, I'll just airmail you the 1 or 2 chips you wanted. It does NOT cost as much as he wants to ship to the U.S.crazyfrog wrote:Thanks all for your feedback!

Vista x64, here I come...............................and tomorrow, after I talked these freaks at customs out of charging me anything, I'll be getting my T60p w/UXGA and IPS. My final night at SXGA+.

Tja, so ein Scheiss!Diehard wrote:Me too! Seems like we can share the load.
However, I think this seller won't do combine shipping cost. He wants to earn some from it.
