crooked screens
crooked screens
So what is the deal with the crooked screens? I ask this question with all due respect, bearing in mind that I really like my T41. Were there just a few crooked screens in early T6x shipments? Does the crooked screen problem affect all shipments? Could any current/new order for a T61 or T61P come with a crooked screen?
I have never heard of this problem with any other major notebook company. Has Lenovo ever addressed the problem or explained the issue? Why can so many other notebook companies succeed in not producing regular shipments of crooked screens? What do they know or do that Lenovo doesn't?

Define crooked screen?
If you refer off centered screen as crooked screen then it's a feature and not a problem.

I stand corrected and totally defer to the language use of anyone else on this forum. I am sincerely interested in the "off centered" feature of screens on Lenovo T61 and/or T61P notebooks. I hereby repeat my questions about the off centered screens:

To accommodate the requirement of mainly the roll cage and other features it was done. It's a trade off as the head of the team who designed it said:
We discussed it on this forum too:

The Inside Scoop on Design
By the way people who own T61/p say they seldom notice off centered screen.

Thank you for the informative links on the off centered feature. May I ask if owners could elaborate on the off-centeredness? Is it only from side to side, or is there also sometimes a tilt such that a line across the screen would not be parallel to (lines created by) the bottom or top casing of the screen?

I think you've some misinformation about off centered screen, below is a picture of T61:t41user wrote:snip....Is it only from side to side, or is there also sometimes a tilt such that a line across the screen would not be parallel to (lines created by) the bottom or top casing of the screen?

I have used T61 for a while and hardly ever noticed the bezels across the screen been off centered, everything will be displayed parallel on your screen. In my honest opinion when one is computing, they are more focused on the screen than the bezels itself.

this is mostly a psychological thing....I didn't even notice it till i read a thread about it at NBR..
if you have a tendency towards OCD..then I don't blame that it bothers you...or if you are fixated on it
Just do know that it wasn't an accidental flaw..it was done on purpose to accomodate roll cages and antennas...
if you look..you will also notice the left metal hinge is bigger than the right

I have a T61 and a T61P that just arrived yesterday. Both 14" standard screens (4:3 - 1400x1050).
Of course both screens are off-center to accomodate for the roll cage - i know all of this. But the screen on my T61P is actually crooked, meaning that the screen itself seems to be tilted inside the LCD lid. Is this something i can fix myself or should i return to Lenovo? It is very slight but noticeable.
