T60 - slow startup and shutdown

I have a T60 (Dual Core 2.1 GHz, 2GB of RAM) which takes 1:30 min to startup and 2:30 to shutdown. I have disabled or removed many of the Thinkpad extras and still no change. The slowness occurs whether I am connected to the network or logging on locally. Both at home and the office.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what steps I can take figure out what is causing the long delays?

Thanks,

most likely it's the thinkvantage client security solution.   have you removed that yet?

yes, removed that, no change.

Also, upon logon, the majority of the wait is at the "applying your personal settings" message.

I also disabled many Lenovo Services to speed things up. However, I found that I had to keep "Access Connections Main Services" enabled. If I disabled it, bootup and shutdown times were much longer.

Well your comment about Access Connections having an effect on the boot up time helped. I un-installed the Access Connections app and now my boot up time is normal.

Now I have to figure out what is causing the slow shutdown.

Thanks,
