T series running 2D graphics slower than R series
T series running 2D graphics slower than R series
Anyone have this problem? My R50P runs animation that I have created in PowerPoint much more smoothly than the same animation played back on my T61 (or T43). The T series laptops have faster processors, have twice the RAM and 4 times the video display memory as my R50p, yet the R50p does a much better job handling the graphics in our presentations than either the T42 or the new T61. All three sytems are running WinXP Pro (SP2), PPT 2003. I feel that there must be a simple setting in the newer computers that will make the graphics run smoother but I cannot find it (and I've looked). Any ideas or comments will be appreciated.
The R50p uses a ATI Mobilioty Fire GL T2 with 128MB memory.
The T61 uses the NVIVIA Quatro NVS 140M compatible with 512MB memory.

did you run PC Doctor.
another thing is that generally laptops that run at lower temperatures will give off better performance. maybe one of the laptops is seriously overheating?

Thanks for your response. There is no indication that the T series computers are running hot and they appear to run all other functions quite well - I use the T61 for video editing and it handles those demands without a hitch. The one area of disappointment is in the playback of PowerPoint animations and transitions. In that case the objects that are in play move very slowly and lack the smoothness that I see during playback of the same frames on my older, slower R50P. even our A30p runs PPT animation smoother than the T61 or T43. Could this lack of performance be an issue with the settings on the NVIDIA? If so, does anyone have thoughts on what settings I could try to enhance its performance? The settings I have tried do not help.

T42 doesn't have nVidia graphics though. Obviously there is a difference in software load on your T series and your R and A.

The sofware load does not appear to be the cause. The A30P OS is WinXP Pro, SP2. the PPT version is 2003. The R50P is the same. Both of these computers run the animation relatively smoothly. The T43 OS is WinXP Pro SP2. The PPT vresion is 2003. This computer runs the same amimation with a noticable sluggishness. The T61 OS is WinXP Pro SP2. The PPT version is 2007. The T61 runs the same animation very slowly and with noticable sluggishness - actually a little slower than the T43. I have recreated the same animation from scratch inthe T61. The result is the same as the original creation. Seems to me that the issue is in the performance settings of the video card or the T series software. But I cannot find an adjustment that improves the performance.
Any feedback will be appreciated.
