Font size on web pages

T61p with vista premium 15"sxga+. I've set the text size everywhere I can find ie. internet options, page box, control panel personalization yet some web pages come up almost too small to read without using the magnifier. In my old computer (A21m 2000 professional) there's a screen in browser options, appearance where automatic image resizeing is enabled. I'm thinking this is what makes the font size about the same on all pages. I can't find anything like this in vista. Is there a way to make the text on all the web pages about the same size.

I'm not too sure about Thinkpad T61p being offered in 15'' SXGA+ but you should have options to increase the text size in Internet Explorer:

Change webpage text size in Internet Explorer.

OR

Changing The Font Size In Windows Vista.

Thanks for the response but I've tried both of the suggested places & I get some pages that have text that is so small I have to magnify to read. I never have this issue with my old thinkpad with win 2000. I've also tried the setting where you choose your own font for web pages but some pages get really messed up. The screen is wsxga.

Perhaps it's a sudden transformation from the resolution (?) of thinkpad A21m to WSXGA. Try changing the native resolution to something lower. You can try turning ClearType on/off to see if it makes any difference.

If I'm understanding the question correctly, you want to adjust the text size on web pages... most likely larger.

If you're using FireFox, search for an addon called "NoSquint".

Since it seems I'm the only one with this text size issue I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my display, video card or os. For example a page at the Lenovo site takes up 7.5 inches of the screen on the t61p on my old 14 inch thinkpad the same page is 10.5 inches & is easily readable. Is there a way to determine if this is what I can expect or if there's something wrong.

There is a nice solution within firefox, using a plug-in called nosquint. This permits you set the font size for each web site you normally visit. Some, as you know, have smaller size type, others larger, and nosquint solves the problem.

But this doesn't happen with my old thinkpad running a 7 year old os. Hard to believe B. Gates has stepped backwards.

I don't use Explorer so I don't know how you change the font size.

But on fire fox, press control key and the plus key to increase the fonts size. You can reduce the font size by control and minus keys.

I think you would prefer the XGA screen instead of the SXGA+. XGA is lower in resolution so everything looks bigger, but less screen space. I find XGA easier on my eyes.

I can change font sizes on some pages but the increase doesn't seem to apply to all pages or even all parts of pages. the old computer did it automatically & it's hard to believe the new is more difficult.

Well the "no squint" add on for Firefox that was mentioned above will automatically remember your size settings for each page you visit. You only have to adjust the font size using the ctrl + or - for each page one time, once you have no squint installed.

Not every element on a web page is always resizable by Firefox's font scaling though. For example, if you hit cntrl + on this site, most of the text will increase in size but the colored "thinkpads.com Support Community" at the top of the page will not resize at all. So it's not going to be 100% perfect on every page, and some pages will resize better than others, but I think it works pretty well most of the time as long as you don't expect perfection.
