Hi,

My T60, 2007 63U with ATI-1400 GPU had very high GPU temperatures. Since I have to buy a new Thinkpad I am wondering if the Nvidia GPUs in the T61 seriels are colder or not. Or should I abstain from a discrete GPU cos I am using the Laptop only for normal (no CAD and so on) office use? Are there any other benefits from the Nvidia GPUs beside 3D acceleration?

Regards,

pseuder

Thinkpad T61 has a new cooling system, redesigned fan and more ventilation holes on the bottom which keeps the machine cooler than its predecessor.

I suggest you search the forum on this to see what the users of this machine has to say.

the gpu of my t61p (quadro fx 570) goes up to about 58 ° under normal circumstances. (temperatures while gaming are higher).

Thanks a lot for the information. I guess the thermal re-design in combination with the Nvidia GPU is keeping the temperature low and hopefully the fan off.
