T61 - No sound after standby/hibernate

#1 Post by snive » Sat Dec 08, 2007 12:16 pm

Hello!

Since a couple of weeks, I have a new T61 (7663-BG7) because my good old T40p died unexpectedly. For various reasons I don't want to used Vista on it, so I installed XP SP2 (including all patches from Windows Update) and now have problems with the audio. I installed the UAA High Definition Audio class driver for Windows XP SP2 (KB888111) as well as the 'normal' driver from Lenovo and the sound works after starting up the notebook. But sometimes after waking up from standby or hibernate the audio does not work anymore until i reboot!

BTW: I have installed the latest driver and BIOS version!

Does anybody have the same problem or knows even a fix?

Thx

I have the EXACT same problem and would greatly appreciate any updates on your progress.

I spoke EZ Serv and was advised to install the KB888111 driver and then the Lenovo Audio driver as you indicated but they had no other advice. this one has me puzzled.

Unfortunately, I didn't make any progress.

The only thing I noticed is that the problem occurs more ofter with standby than hibernate.

1)is your Bluetooth enabled? (Fn F5 will tell you)

2) is Bluetooth in your startup folder in XP?

on my T61, I have bluetooth disabled and I also removed bluetooth from the startup folder yet I'm still seeing this issue.

I will see if resuming from hibernate v. standby makes a difference.

I have Bluetooth disable too, as I have no use for it.

I would try uninstalling both the UAA microsoft driver as well as the lenovo audio driver. reboot. install the uaa driver. reboot (even though it isn't required), install lenovo audio, and that should do it. so far, it's been working for me for the last day and a half after many suspends and hibernates.

Thanks, I'll try that on the weekend if I find the time!
