Hi there, this is my first time posting on the forums. I got my T61p back in September as part of the laptop initiative at my university. I love the thing, but my 80gb HD just isn't cutting it, I'm constantly on the edge of running out of room. However with Christmas on the horizon it seems like th perfect opportunity to get some more space.

Now, I don't really know a whole lot about how this upgrading process works, but thats why you guys are here, eh? Basically I'm looking for the best deal on more internal HD space that's compatible with my laptop. Like I said, I don't know how this whole thing goes down, so any words of guidance are much appreciated.

Any 2.5" SATA drive out there will be compatible with T6x. Remove the only hdd mounting screw from the right bottom of your thinkpad. Pull out the old drive, and replace with the new one. You need the bracket from the old hdd.

Watch the videos:

Format the new drive after installation. You can use Product Recovery disks to set up your machine to out of the box factory state or clone your current HDD to copy an image of it on the newer one.
