T61P WUXGA colours

#1 Post by kam_ » Sun Dec 09, 2007 7:42 pm

After some time using my t61p and switching between laptops i'm finding the colour on it seem really washed out.

I have tried fiddling with the colour profiles in windows but they dont seem to make any difference (they don't appear to make any change at all).

I have read on google about people saying the profile don't apply because of the nvidia driver but then others say it does.

Has anyone out there managed to fix the colours? Its getting so anoyed i'm about to buy a colour calibration tool, but i'd settle for a colour profile from someone who has calibrated their screen?

anyone?

I debated about weather to post in the vista forum, or the t61p one, but since this is kind of scpecific to the t61p WUXGA screen it was best put here.

I also find that the color management doesn't do anything. However, this color control panel applet works here and make my washed out T61 LCD a little more acceptable:

Hmm it says thats only for XP. I didnt even realise XP had colour profiles. Are you using this on Vista?

Ok so i found a profile here:

http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=174408

I used the one from user 'stallen' although its for a WSXGA+ T61.
Then i set the digital vibrance to +20 (at the cost of some images looking too orange.. i think +10 is actually the right mark)

I would have upload it here to save you having to register over there but i don't see an upload button :s

Oh.. to make sure vista took the file i just renamed the old TPLCD.icm file to .bak and rename this one in its place.

Kam_ You probably need to update your signature - it indicates that you are using XP - probably why you got the response you did. I have found that only the color controls from the video card manufacturer do anything significant. Some of the driver versions from Nvidia support this, some don't - most of the newer ones have dropped it. Don't know about ATI drivers....
