Where can I get keyboard cover/skin?

Hi,

Where can I get a keyboard cover for T60p? I've searched Lenovo website and can't find such item. There are many keyboard covers on ebay but they're not specifically for thinkpads.

Why would you need a keyboard cover? Can't you just close the lid?

hrmmm...see when I use it at home, I plug in my USB keyboard, so I think by having a keyboard cover, it may prevent dust (or water in some rare cases) from falling in...

On a side note, I don't believe lenovo offers keyboard covers, atleast I haven't seen ever.

how about using regular college ruled notebook paper to cover the keyboard?

you can, but if you close the lid 5-6 times a day, the hinges will go slightly loose after a year or so. at least mine did, so now i never close the lid and instead use compressed air to get rid of the dust.

I am working on a special blend of protective waxes for ThinkPads. Instead of waxing your car, you can wax you notebook computer.

REALLY, at the end of the day its only a plastic computer.

I too love my ThinkPad

Just trying to make light of things during this holiday season......

I've been reading many of the posts and feel bad that so many users are haveing issues with the T61 model of the ThinkPad.
I'm begining to wonder if these problems are not so much issue with the unit as much as VISTA........ Maybe many of these problems would not be there if XP were running the show.

Any comments, please......

Are you serious? thinkpad hinges are tough, they should NOT be getting loose only after a year. Something else may be wrong here such as loose screws for your hinge

I have owned Thinkpads that have been opened and closed many times per day for at least 3 years that have not had any loosening of the hinges. The stainless steel hinges on the T series (only TP I am familiar with) are incredibly durable as well as being nice to look at.

On my T41p, I regularly carried it around with the screen open, by grasping the lip on the top of the screen, thus the most possible force exerted on the hinges. I've never had a problem with loose hinges.

Thinkpads are built like tanks. I never once put the t41 in a special case when it went in my backpack with the books, and I never had any problems with the case falling apart.

I've been using ThinkPads for many years and when I purchased my T60, I found the hinge screws were a bit loose from the factory. So, I gave them a little tweak and have never had a problem since. I open and close the lid many times throughout the day, and everything is still rock solid.

There are a few things which need attention with respect to quality, and they the palm rest and the touch-pad. The palm rest is paper thin and very flimsy, and the touch -pad's finish wears away in no time flat.
Many of the other notebook builders make a much nicer touch-pad in my opinion...........

You are right about that !

Who would carry a expensive peice of computer equiptment around by the monitor

This is NOT something I would do or recomend, no matter how well built the ThinkPad is...... Actually, if you look through the Lenovo paperwork, they advise against this with their products. I'm certain the Warn. will NOT cover damage to the unit from this abuse.

that's why i said "slightly loose," by no means they became loose after one year. it just annoys me that they are not as tight as when i got them for the first time. the refubrished T23 that i got has much tighter hinges (maybe because the screen is new?), for this reason i just simply don't close the lid unless i carry the computer.
