Upgrade T61 14.1 WXGA to WXGA+?

I just received my brand new T61 yesterday and so far, it's an acceptable replacement for my T42.

However, in terms of screen space, I've realized that I actually downgraded.
My T42's screen was SXGA (1280x1024), but my T61's screen is WXGA (1280x800) so I'm finding that I have to scroll more often. Now I want to upgrade to WXGA+(1440x900).

Can I purchase the WXGA+ screen and upgrade the screen myself? The only catch to this is that I chose the WXGA screen w/ webcam and according to the Lenovo ordering page, WXGA+ w/ webcam is not an option, so I don't know if I can upgrade.

I'd appreciate any kind of help.
Thanks.

It was, has been taken down now and yes you can upgrade to the mentioned resolution however I am not sure about the amount of work you would need to put for the swap but just keep in mind you will void your warranty by doing so.

I suggest you sell your thinkpad T61 and order the new one with your desired display.

I bought a whole other Thinkpad to get from SXGA+ to UXGA. How technically inclined are you? It will void the warranty, and you may render your system unusable if you mess up somewhere. The most I'm willing to risk is upgrading the CPU later on this month. Have you ever changed an LCD? Do you know how to do it?

I've never changed an LCD, but I build my own PCs and have worked as a desktop support technician. I reviewed the Hardware Maintenance Manual and I think I can do it.

However, as mentioned, I'll be voiding my warranty. Plus, from what I've been reading, there isn't much difference between WXGA and WXGA+. So I think I have to reconsider my options.

Thanks for the help.
