T60 - Dual ext monitors, display scheme funky?

I have a T60 connected to a mini-dock. I have two 19" LCDs connected at 1280 x 1024.
If I try to create a new "Scheme" for the dual monitor (one on the DVI port and one on the VGA port) it gives me an error when I try to switch to it saying that the color depth and resolution are not supported.
However, if I go into MS windows settings I can manual configure both monitors and have them up and running without any problems with the same configuration.
It is a hassle to have to manually set them up each time I dock my laptop. Any ideas how to resolve this?
