T61: BIOS / Config / Display / Boot Display Device

On my T61 in the BIOS Setup Utility (Version 1.26) under
"Config" / "Display" / "Boot Display Device" the default setting is "Analog (VGA)". The description of this setting is "Select a video device for boot. If you select more than one device, only the first device listed my display video until the OS is loaded. Analog (VGA) and Digital (DVI) refer to externally attached CRT or TFT displays"
I'm using only the ThinkPad LCD and I wonder why I see all boot messages even if the setting is "Analog (VGA)".
If I understand the description, I guess I shouldn't see anything until Vista is booted. Of course, the description says that on setting more than one device only the first would be used until the OS is loaded but shouldn't this be the same on selecting only one device and the messages should only be on the selected display?
Why is "Analog (VGA)" the default setting and not the "ThinkPad LCD"? Is this a bug in the BIOS?
