T60p 15" SXGA+ Flexview Video Card

Last week I purchased a new T60p from the Lenovo outlet store.
The brief specs in the product description are:

Processor: T7600 C2D, 2.33Ghz
Vista Premium
15" SXGA+ Flexview
1 GB RAM
100 GB, 7200 RPM HHD
Thinkpad 11a/b/g/n wireless
DVD Recordable

No standard model # was given.

The sales associate couldn't provide anymore info.

Can anyone tell me what video card is likely to be in this configuration? I assumed it would be an ATI FireGL 5200 or 5250 but the only info I can find on Lenovo's site is a reference to the ATI x1400 with the 15" SXGA+ Flexview.

It won't ship till Friday, and I won't receive it till 12-31. I need to decide if I want to cancel. I would much prefer the FireGL5200 / 5250 or the T61p with nVidia FX-570m.

Thanks

I believe it comes with a ATI MOB. FIRE GL V5250 256, if it is a 261L3BR778 :) It would be a 2613CTO

Thanks for the reply.

My SKU number from the outlet store is 261L3BP710, so it is different.

I run SolidWorks 2007 occasionally; that is why I would prefer the FireGL 5200 / 5200.

Nice configuration! Where is the Lenovo outlet site? In all likelihood, you'll get the ATI FireGL w/256MB. It appears that graphics and Flexview are important to you. Just as a friendly warning. T61p's no longer have any type of Flexview's.

The outlet link is on the Lenovo home page, last selection under products on the left side.

The product descriptions are brief and incomplete. I spoke to 2 sales reps in Toronto and neither could or would give me any additional info about the box I purchased. Seems strange to me--I figured they could pull up the SKU number and have all the details.

I'm not overly concerned about the graphics. I can run Solidworks on my A31p so the T60p with any discrete graphics will be better. I only run Solidworks occasionaly for self-training or to print / review a drawing. I have a real workstation available if I need to do serious work.

I bought the box for the screen. 90% of the time I am docked and connected to a 21.3" NEC LCD so I would be OK with a T61p. But the 10% off-dock with a Flexview would be great!

I will not cancel my order. Gotta have the Flexview. I will add 2 GB RAM ,160GB 7200 HDD, & a 3 year on-site to the system and be set for 3+ years.

Maybe by then we can all buy new Thinkpads with decent screens.

Got a reply to an Email I sent to Lenovo. The graphics card is an ATI FireGL V5250 M66. Not sure what M66 means.

Sounds like I got an excellent system for $1500.

Now I can order some RAM, a set of XP recovery CDs, and stock up on panels for my A31p and T60p

Why not go all the way to 200 GB on the hard drive? I believe there is very little difference in the price between 160 and 200 GB if you don't order it from Lenovo. Last week Newegg was (and probably still is) selling the 200 GB Hitachi 7k200 (the 3rd generation with 16 Mb cache) for $180 with either free or very cheap shipping to the continental US. (The one I just got from them was manufactured in Nov 07.)

usually, if it is a "p" model, the graphics card wil be ATI FireGL 5200 or 5250, and if it is a non-"p" model, the graphics card will be ATI X1300, x1400 or Intel.

By the way, I have almost exactly the same configuration and love it! The only difference is that I upgraded RAM to 3GB and hard drive to 7k200! Enjoy your new Thinkpad!

Yup, I hear you loud and clear. I'm gonna hold on to my baby and upgrade its components as I deem necessary in the future, until Lenovo comes to its senses. We can always buy more warranty. 8)
