New T61p 14.1" - poor video performance?

Hi all,

I just got a new T61p 14.1" (woohoo!). T7300, 3gb ram, running vista business 32bit. It's pretty nice so far, with a few quibbles, but the main thing I'm unimpressed by is the video performance.

I tried running WoW, and even though I know the 14.1" doesn't have exactly the same 570m as the 15.4", I thought it should be close. However, the highest FPS I've seen so far is in the mid 40s. There are times when it dips to single digit FPS, and I don't know why. All the settings are turned down, running on native (1400 x 1050) resolution.

Anyone have any ideas why it's running so slow? I refuse to believe this is the best it can do. I've tried running on both stock drivers and ones from laptopvideo2go.com.

Thanks for any thoughts on this!

Wierd... I used to play WoW on my 14"1 T60p with the V5200 at native resolution without any problem and it was quiet fast. Are you sure you chose the right power profile in the power manager?

That's because we too have 256 mb of dedicated ram to our video card.

vshang should only have 128 mb of dedicated memory.

I'm sorry to say that I too have been a little disappointed with the video performance of my 14.1 4:3 T61p for games. When I have tried to raise the resolution too much, it starts stuttering a bit and getting generally sluggish in COD4.

I haven't tried any other drivers besides Lenovo's latest stock driver yet, but am disappointed to hear that Laptopvideotogo's drivers didn't help with this.

i have a 15.4" t61p and cod 4 runs perfectly fine at sxga+ with medium to high details. i have the standard drivers from lenovo for windows xp.

so it may be the lower ram (dont think that its only that) or windows vista (or the vista drivers)
